Algebra, calculus and equations in one workspace. Choose an operation; results are shown as exact expressions or clearly identified numerical approximations.

How to use it: formulas and limits

Using symbolic algebra

Enter an expression and choose an operation. Factoring x^2-1 gives (x-1)*(x+1); differentiating x^3+2*x gives 3*x^2+2. Use a decimal point and ^ for powers. Explicit multiplication signs make expressions easier to read.

Equations, derivatives and integrals

For solving, enter one equation such as x^2-5*x+6=0 and choose a variable. Derivative order is one through four; other variables are treated as constants. An indefinite integral gives one antiderivative; the general family includes a +C constant. Enter lower and upper bounds for a definite integral.

Limits and exact values

Choose an approach value for a limit: sin(x)/x tends to 1 as x approaches 0. Evaluate uses substitutions such as x=2. Exact fractions remain fractions when supported. A result obtained through numerical integration is explicitly labeled approximate.

Domains and unresolved operations

Simplification does not remove the original domain: (x^2-1)/(x-1) simplifies to x+1, but the original expression remains undefined at x=1. ln(x) is natural logarithm and log(x) is base 10; symbolic trigonometry uses radians. Solutions may be complex. Not every integral, limit or equation has a supported closed form; unresolved expressions and time limits are identified.

Using a result privately

Copy plain text or LaTeX, or download the result. Supported real single-variable expressions can open in the 2D graph tool. Complex or unresolved results are not forced into a plot. Expressions are processed on your device and are not sent to a calculation service.
